Liposuction Newport Beach
Liposuction, or lipoplasty, can help sculpt one’s body shape by removing unwanted fat from specific stubborn body areas that are resistant to traditional weight loss methods.
“Tumescent”, “superwet”, and microliposuction techniques are utilized to provide more precise results with shorter recovery periods with minimal bruising.
Testimonials from Dr. Grover’s Patients
“My experience with liposuction by Dr. Grover was an extremely positive one. My thighs were nicely shaped and I had a flat stomach for the first time in my life! After a week or so of slight bruising, there were no scars or marks left over from the surgery…Dr. Grover himself is so caring and gentle…I would not recommend anyone other than Dr. Grover for plastic surgery. I have received so many compliments and have a great body because of him! I encourage anyone who is considering liposuction to do it because it truly has a positive impact on not just your body but also boosts your self confidence and makes you feel really good about yourself!”

More Information about Liposuction in Newport Beach
Many patients seek out Dr. Grover for liposuction and body contouring procedures. Liposuction is one of the most common cosmetic surgery procedure performed in the United States. Liposuction is also referred to or known as body contouring, liposculpture, microliposuction, SmartLipo, power-assisted liposuction, VASER Ultrasonic Liposuction, tickle lipo, and many other names. Liposuction utilizes small incisions usually two to four millimeters in length, along with a cannula (or narrow tube) to help remove or extract the extra fatty tissues or unwanted fat in areas that are difficult to contour with proper diet and exercise. Liposuction is most commonly performed on the abdomen or tummy, the flanks or love handles, the bra roll, the hips and thighs, knees, arms, preaxillary areas, as well as the submental area, which is also referred to as the “double chin”. Liposuction may be performed with either local anesthesia, twilight anesthesia or general anesthesia. Smaller areas of contouring or liposuction may be performed with local anesthesia in an in-office setting. Many patients, however, seek contouring in multiple areas at one time and undergo liposuction in the outpatient surgery setting along with general anesthesia. Dr. Grover utilizes a superwet, tumescent technique, or SAFE liposuction technique, along with power-assisted liposuction device to assist him in contouring or extracting the fatty tissue.
Multiple small incisions are made in inconspicuous areas that are 2 to 4 mm in length, and then saline solution or a wetting fluid is placed into the fatty tissues. This fluid contains normal saline or lactated ringers solution along with a local anesthetic and epinephrine or adrenaline. This fluid helps the small blood vessels constrict or shrink so there is minimal blood loss that is associated with these procedures, and thus minimizing bruising. Power-assisted liposuction devices are used to help contour or remove the fat in a much gentler way as the cannulas attach to a small mechanical handpiece which functions like a very mini jackhammer, which allows the cannula to vibrate hundreds of times per minute to more easily extract the fat. Gentle strokes are utilized along with the power-assisted technique to remove the fat particles. The SAFE liposuction technique is a way to help contour the tissues in a way that helps minimize any irregularities or dimpling.
Patients with tighter skin with good elasticity are the ones who will achieve the nicest results with liposuction, as their skin will retract or shrink back in a very smooth manner. Patients with loose skin or stretch marks are not as ideal candidates for liposuction as they can suffer from irregularities or dimples following liposuction procedures. Many patients may benefit from radiofrequency skin tightening treatment following their liposuction procedure if they have mild to moderate skin laxity. This will help achieve or improve results.
Dr. Grover will place small stitches in the small incision sites to help minimize any fluid leakage following the procedure. These sutures are removed one week following surgery. Patients will wear a contour or compression garment for a period of 3 to 6 weeks to help minimize swelling, and allow for proper skin retraction. It is important for patients to ambulate often and walk around following their liposuction procedures to help minimize any risk for blood clots or deep venous thrombosis.
It is useful that one is in good shape and near ideal body weight prior to undergoing any liposuction procedures, as liposuction is best suited for body contouring and not weight loss. Most of one’s swelling is gone by three to four moths post-operatively; however, patients will see an immediate improvement the day following surgery. Most patients experience minimal bruising. Final results are not usually seen until one year post-operatively.
