TIGHTEN AND SMOOTH
YOUR ABS POST-BABY

Abdominoplasty, or “Tummy Tuck”, can markedly improve the appearance of a large or protruding abdomen (pouch) as well as significantly narrowing the waistline.

An abdominoplasty or "tummy tuck" is achieved by removing excess skin and fat from the middle and lower abdomen as well as by tightening the loose underlying abdominal muscles. This procedure is ideal for patients who have been pregnant and have stretched and weakened their abdominal muscles and skin and suffer from “stretch marks” in the lower abdomen.

Some of our Orange County tummy tuck patients may only require a “mini-abdominoplasty” with or without liposuction. The procedure is performed using general anesthesia either in an inpatient or outpatient setting.

About a Tummy Tuck

If you are living with a flabby, loose tummy, you may be considering surgery. An abdominoplasty tightens the muscles in the abdomen and removes excess skin.

Dr. Grover, a top plastic surgeon in Newport Beach, uses an advanced surgical procedure that produces a sculpted, fit appearance. The procedure requires exceptional surgical skills to produce attractive, taut and smooth results.

Tummy Tuck: An Advanced Surgical Technique

Dr. Grover performs tummy tuck surgery with an advanced surgical technique for faster healing time and more sculpted results - one of the best tummy tucks Newport Beach offers. This procedure, called a “drain free abdominoplasty,” will not leave the patient facing the problem of surgical drains to remove excess fluid during recovery. Many people would like to have a firmer, tauter tummy zone, but dread the thought of dealing with surgical drains. Dr. Grover has been performing the drainless abdominoplasty for over a decade and is a leading authority on this groundbreaking surgical technique.

No Drains – Faster Recovery and More Sculpted Results

In a standard, traditional tummy tuck, drains are inserted into the incision site to collect and remove excess fluid. In the drain free technique, liposuction along with the surgical correction re-sculpts the abdominal area for a more defined, athletic look once the area has healed. Issues such as love handles are resolved, excess fat in the abdomen is removed, and the muscle structure is tightened to restore a flatter, firmer outcome.

Liposuction + Tummy Tuck = A Trim, Fit, & Sculpted Abdomen

In the drain-free procedure, the liposuction is performed first. After the excess fat has been extracted from these zones, muscle repair is performed, and excess skin and tissue are removed. The procedure involves the use of multiple “quilted” stitches to create a smoother, more natural and defined look, and make it possible to have a faster, less stressful recovery – with no worries about surgical drains.

Tummy Tuck Candidates

Many of our Orange County tummy tuck patients choose to undergo an abdominoplasty as they are tired of seeing a bulging abdomen, and no diet or exercise can successfully tighten the area. When the underlying muscle structure has stretched or split, there is little that can improve the appearance other than surgical intervention. Patients come to us to resolve the following aesthetic issues:

  • An unsightly, bulging abdomen
  • Split tummy muscles
  • Flab and lack of muscle tone in the abdomen
  • Unsightly stretch marks
  • Saggy skin and tissue on the abdomen
  • Loose clothing to try to hide the bulge
  • Lost muscle tone and firmness after pregnancy
  • Excess hanging skin left after weight loss or bariatric surgery

Recovery from a Tummy Tuck

When planning for abdominoplasty surgery, you need to ensure you have sufficient time away from work or vigorous activities. The body needs time to heal. Most patients should plan on taking at least two weeks off work and plan for help around the house, as patients must avoid lifting (including children!) or other activities that will stress the abdomen.

A patient's most effective plan will involve plenty of time for rest and recovery, and ensuring another person is there to manage the day-to-day activities for at least a few days. With our drainless tummy tuck in Newport Beach, you do not have to worry about managing surgical drains or a lengthy process to remove sutures.

Abdominoplasty for Mommy

While having children is one of the most joyous events in life, the body can suffer. A once fit, firm tummy may now sag and droop and be marred by extensive stretch marks. Many mothers take the step to restore the abdomen to a pre-baby condition – or even better!

With the no drain procedure used by Dr. Grover in his Orange County plastic surgery office, much of the skin with stretch marks can be removed, improving the look of the skin on the tummy zone. The added process of removing excess fat with liposuction is a benefit to mothers as the body, after pregnancy, often develops love handles and fatty deposits that linger. A once trim, fit woman can feel embarrassed, dismayed, and dejected with these body changes – but our abdominoplasty surgery can help you restore the youthful flat abdomen you had prior to having children.

A Firm, Fit Body Contour

If you are tired of seeing a flabby, loose abdomen, are at a healthy weight, and are in a state of good general health you are likely a good candidate for a tummy tuck. After the skin and muscles have stretched, in many cases only a surgical procedure will repair the damage. It is imperative that the procedure is performed by a skilled plastic surgeon who employs this groundbreaking, drain free surgical technique. The Post-Op Experience: Dr. Grover

Any surgery is a shock to the body. We are committed to helping our Newport Beach abdominolpasty patients throughout the recovery process and providing extensive aftercare instructions to make the healing process easier on you – and your body. A tummy tuck that does not involve drains is a far superior post-op experience, and healing typically proceeds as it should, and in less time. Some of the important issues to plan for include:

  • Arrange a friend or family member to drive you home and to stay with you for the first 24 hours.
  • Get everything prepared for your recovery, within easy reach of your bed, including plenty of liquids (water advised) and any books, TV remotes, tissues, or other usual needs. You won’t be able to move around easily in the early stages of recovery.
  • It may require up to three days for the effects of anesthetic to wear off, so do not undertake any action that could cause you to fall or trip due to grogginess. Get help when moving around!
  • Eat bland foods for the first few days and avoid excess salt (causes you to retain fluid).
  • Gentle exercise is necessary, primarily easy walks three times a day.
  • No sports and no exercise until you are given your surgeon's approval.
  • No lifting of anything, including grocery bags, children, or any item weighing ten pounds or more for at least six weeks.

Full aftercare instructions will be provided – patients should follow them carefully so that their healing progresses quickly and they can get back to life – and show off their new figure!
