Resculpt the ears while boosting your confidence with otoplasty. Disproportionately large, misshapen or protruding ears can be a huge source of shame, as they can draw attention to themselves, distracting from the other features. For school-aged children, big ears can lead to excessive teasing, taunting and even bullying, which can leave lasting emotional scars and can negatively impact self-esteem.
Otoplasty, or ear surgery, is a straightforward surgical procedure that corrects ear deformities, injuries and aesthetic flaws, pinning the ears back against the head while reducing cartilage.
Dr. Grover is a board-certified Orange County plastic surgeon who is not only highly skilled and experienced, but is also known for his calm, reassuring demeanor and his ability to set patients of all ages instantly at ease.
Ear surgery can treat:
By the time a child is 5 years of age, the ear’s cartilage will be stable enough to support surgical intervention. However, the child must be in excellent health and not suffer from ear infections or other medical conditions. In addition, the child must be willing to follow the doctor’s instructions in order to ensure proper healing.
Dr. Grover recommends that teens and adults undergoing ear surgery be in good health, both emotionally and physically, with no major medical issues, and that they be non-smokers or willing to quit. Good candidates also have realistic expectations for improvement rather than perfection, based on their confidential consultation with Dr. Grover at his Newport Beach offices.
Learn More About Dr. GroverDr. Grover may ask you to wear a compression garment for the first week or so to minimize swelling while also preserving the new shape of your ears. Most clients are able to resume normal activities within 10-14 days of their surgery, although complete healing will likely occur after around 6 weeks.
If your child is undergoing the procedure, it is suggested that the surgery be performed over the summer or winter break to allow the most time possible for recovery.
If you are in the Orange County area and would like to learn more about ear surgery, please contact Dr. Grover today to schedule your confidential consultation.
During this session, the doctor will answer all your questions regarding costs, insurance and financing; risks and benefits; recovery and downtime; and naturally, what kind of results you can expect. Dr. Grover will provide you with access to our library of before and after photography so you can have the most accurate impression possible of your future outcome.
