Reshape heavy, discolored under-eye bags with a Newport Beach tear trough correction treatment. The tear trough is a small section of skin that runs from the lower corner of the inner eye to the outer corner, also referred to as a nasojugal groove. When the tear trough is puffy and discolored, it can telegraph a tired look that makes one appear older than one’s years.

Until recently, the only way to fix this problem was to perform surgery, but now thanks to developments and interest in non-surgical facial rejuvenation, the tear troughs can be corrected using dermal fillers or fat transfer.

While tear trough deformities tend to strike in the later years, Dr. Grover sometimes performs this procedure on patients in their 20’s and 30’s. He will determine if you are a good candidate during your private consultation in Newport Beach.

Using fillers to treat tear trough imperfections

Dermal fillers can be utilized to add volume to the under-eyes, which sometimes become hollow-looking with age. They can also reduce under-eye fat and make it less visible. Lastly, fillers can help to mitigate hyperpigmentation in the under-eyes. These fillers are made up of hyaluronic acid, which is an all-natural compound found in the body, responsible for the skin’s hydration, resilience and radiance.

How is the procedure performed?

Dr. Grover will first apply a topical anesthetic to ensure your complete comfort during treatment. The entire session will last about 30 minutes on average. He will then strategically inject the under-eyes with a hyaluronic-based facial filler such as Restylane or Belotero.

Alternatives to dermal fillers

In some cases, Dr. Grover may opt to perform a fat transfer procedure that can achieve excellent results in terms of revitalizing the under-eyes. During fat transfer, fat is extracted through a cannula from a donor area such as the hips, thighs or belly. The fat is then purified and sterilized, and is injected into the under-eye area, balancing out lost volume and creating a healthier, more well-rested aesthetic.
